When air pollutants are measured at unhealthy levels, the Northwest Clean Air Agency may temporarily ban outdoor burning and restrict the use of wood stoves and fireplaces. Fire officials may temporarily ban outdoor burning during periods of fire danger.

Since 1967, Northwest Clean Air Agency has worked to improve and protect air quality in Island, Skagit, and Whatcom counties. We enforce federal, state, and local air quality regulations.
