Any homeowner in Washington state in danger of foreclosure related to their mortgage, property taxes, or HOA dues. Also helps residents of Washington state who have questions related to home purchase, refinance, reverse mortgages, or repair assistance.

Foreclosure prevention counseling from a HUD-approved counseling agency is free when it is regarding a primary residence. There may be a fee if it is a vacation home or investment property.

Foreclosure Mediation Homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments or HOA/COA dues may be able to request mediation to discuss alternatives with their lender or association. Only a HUD-certified housing counselor or attorney can refer a homeowner to the mediation program. The homeowner cannot self-refer; instead, they work with a counselor or legal aid provider who evaluates eligibility and forwards the referral to the Washington State Department of Commerce. Connects callers to places that provide assistance with necessary home repairs or home modifications such as installing grab bars or wheelchair ramps.
