Offers trained navigators who work one-on-one with Pierce County residents who are seeking living wage jobs or college education and are unsure of where to begin. Helps residents determine which employment service or education path will best meet their employment goals, and directly connects callers to education and employment organizations. Also helps WorkForce clients access transportation programs, benefits programs, or other services that help remove barriers to employment or education. Service is provided until the client has connected with the best employment or education program, and barriers to employment have been removed.

Helps individuals prepare and enter the workforce by tailoring to their needs, interests, and skills. Tries to match each individual with the right employer. Works with the Developmental Disability Administration, Division Vocational Rehabilitation, and Foundational Community Services.

The CDL Program the opportunity to earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License at no cost. Participants receive classroom and actual seat time instruction coupled with ANEW’s support services that help students overcome obstacles to landing and keeping high wage employment.

Youth Engagement Programming that is committed to empowering young people with disabilities, particularly those from immigrant, refugee, and BIPOC communities-through inclusive, culturally responsive programming. The HOPE and Kickstart Program builds on this foundation by offering a year-round, comprehensive support system for youth and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (DD/ID). The HOPE and Kickstart Programming is designed to foster self-determination, independence, and future planning through a blend of mentorship, peer engagement, and experiential learning. Participants gain essential life and employment skills while connecting with peers who share similar lived experiences. Each section topic includes hands-on activities, guest speakers, role-play games, individual assignments, interactive group activities and field trips.

Helps farmworkers find jobs and connect with community resources. Farmworker employment specialists assist farmworkers by assessing skills and interests and preparing an employment plan. Offers the following services prioritized for farmworkers: - Job listings, job referrals and hiring events - Resume, application and interviewing assistance - Use of computers, photocopiers and phones - Skill assessments and referrals to training and other resources Connects farmworkers to community resources for help with finding housing, training, child care, education, and health care.

Matches employers to job seekers by providing employment services.   Services include job readiness workshops, job skills trainings, job placement services and job retention services.   Offers these services through direct referral and coordination of city, county, state and federal programs.   Also offers employer services, including screening of potential applicants, supervisory training and outplacement services.   Programs include the following employment services. Not all services offered at all locations:   Community Jobs Initiative (CJI)   Offers paid (minimum wage) internships to job seekers looking to build skills for employment.   Participants must currently receive TANF cash assistance of DSHS - Community Services Office.   This program is implemented through extensive partnerships among state agencies (including DSHS, Employment Security, and the Board of Community and Technical Colleges).    Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Placement Services (DVR).   Provides vocational assessment, internship development, and monitoring and job placement services for adults with disabilities who are referred by DSHS - DVR counselors. Limited English Pathway Placement Services   Offers job readiness workshops, job placement services, skills trainings, and job retention and county wage progression services as well as English language class referrals for King and Snohomish adults with limited English. Participants must be at least 18 years old and either a refugee with documentation or currently receive TANF cash assistance from DSHS - Community Services Offices.   This is a program of DSHS and the Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance (ORIA).    Veterans Administration Placement Services Employment and training assessment, job placement and job retention services for service connected disabled veterans referred by the Veterans Administration. Contact Harriet Klein (206) 443-9999 for more information.    Workers Compensation Services  Provides vocational assessment, vocational plan development, and monitoring of vocational training programs for injured workers referred by Washington State Labor and Industries Department, including the Office of Workers Compensation Programs.     Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Adult Services/Dislocated Worker Services. Provides job readiness workshops, job placement services, vocational training, and job retention services for adults.

Services for all job seekers: - Job postings, a job bank with computers, resume assistance, phones and fax machine, open computer lab - Resume, cover letter, interview skills and technology workshops - Job fairs, hiring events, employer panels and industry forums - Full service Learning Center operated by Renton Technical College offering ESL, Adult Basic Education, GED and the High School 21+ diploma program. Employment workshops include the following classes: - Computer Assisted Job Search: Provides tools and assistance to conduct an effective job search. This includes setting up an email account, learning where to apply online, completing an online application, converting a resume to text only, posting a resume online and learning about career exploration tools. Basic computer skills are required. - Beginning Internet: Teaches how to use the Internet for job search purposes. No computer experience necessary, however Keyboarding and Mouse class highly encouraged as a prerequisite. - Beginning PC Skills: Computer tutorial to help gain speed and confidence on a computer. Will teach how to manipulate a computer and create a document, as well as how to improve typing speed. All levels are welcome. - Mock Interview: Teaches valuable interviewing tips and provides the opportunity to practice frequently in a supportive and realistic environment. - Resume Critique: Provides resume critique and assistance from an employment specialist. Must have an electronic version of your resume, either on a flash drive or within/attached to an email. Must have two job descriptions of jobs you wish to apply to. Limit 8 people per workshop. - Resume & Cover Letters: Teaches how to write a compelling cover letter and resume. Basic computer skills and/or typing experience preferred. - Women's Worth & Rights in the Workplace: Provides tips and tools for effectively evaluating your worth and negotiation power. Will also cover local, state and federal labor standards and what to do when your rights at work are violated. - Interview Skills: Practice responding to typical interview questions and begin the necessary preparation to ace a job interview.

The Transitional Studies Program provides instruction in reading, math, writing, and basic computer skills. It offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, as well as pathways to earning a GED or high school diploma. Classes are offered in Forks, Port Angeles, and Sequim, with online options.

Supports comprehensive employment and training activities while helping clients get the trainings and certifications needed to build a sustainable career, including: -Job counseling -Academic counseling and assistance -Referrals and placement -Support with applications to government benefit programs, such as unemployment and SNAP -Employment-related training Training/Education Incentive:  Individuals entering an accredited college or vocational school program may be eligible for tuition assistance.  Proof of registration and paid fees will be required.    Referrals:  Staff may provide referrals to apprenticeship programs and help clients with job searches.   Support Services:  Upon completing the Workforce Readiness class and finding employment, clients may be eligible for supportive services at the discretion of the Director of the Employment and Training Department.  These services may include: -  Transportation allowance -  Food allowance -  Shoes   -  Work clothing (if required by employer) -  Other reasonable job-related expenses   Summer Youth Employment Experience:  Limited number of work experience positions are available during the summer months to eligible high school students.  Interested parties should contact the WIA office in January for more information. The Bridgeways Employment Services staff work with adults living with mental illness who are seeking employment in the community.  The program provides job-related services and supports taking each person’s strengths, abilities, talents, experiences, and preferences into account.

Integrates career planning, job search training and job referral services through college and career centers at several alternative schools and small schools.   Students receive advice on post-high school options, including:   -  Career and technical education -  Preparing cover letters and resumes -  Completing job applications -  College applications/scholarships   -  Selecting colleges    A job-listing service is available for employers who would like to hire students. Employers can contact the Career & College Center Specialist at each high school.
