Career Centers are located at the Shorewood and Shorecrest high school libraries and are available to students and the public during school hours.   Staffed by two career specialists, the center offers job placement, scholarship and financial aid information, testing materials, career choice materials, and a variety of other materials to assist in post-secondary career plans.

Provides employment and training support to job seekers and businesses. Some eligibility requirements may apply. - Assists with career assessments, job search, applications, resume/cover letters, job readiness, and interviewing preparation. Assists business with recruitment, hosting employee training, labor market information, and finding candidates for openings. - Economic Security for All (EcSA) serves families by building a partnership around the four pillars of support: transportation, healthcare, childcare, and employment. - Unemployment Information: Provide computer and telephone access to apply for Unemployment Insurance benefits. Customers may call the UI hotline at (800)318.6022 or log into eServices at esd.wa.gov/unemployment. (Online application, weekly filing, and submission of documents is encouraged to expedite the process.)

DSB supports young people ages 21 and under with vision loss by preparing them for successful futures by providing workshops, programs, and activities provide geared towards teaching age-appropriate skills of blindness, self-advocacy, orientation and mobility, and educational and career exploration.

Provides directories on various types of businesses, including manufacturing, technology, international trade, community information/referral, etc.  Also offers a career assessment by appointment.  Provides a variety of career description resources (books and videos) as well as college directories, catalogs, scholarship books, and business start-up information.

Coordinates three-session interactive workshops to help people with disabilities evaluate their strengths, values, personal qualities, barriers, self-esteem, and resiliency. Focus is on helping people who are experiencing barriers in seeking employment. Workshops are also held at community agencies.

Services include: -  Individualized job search assistance -  Case management -  Job readiness training -  Career counseling -  Vocational Assessment -  Job fairs -  Career development workshops -  Computer skills instruction Provides weekly orientation classes that provide an overview of the resources and programs available to job seekers.  Provides access to community and technical college programs and financial resources for retraining.  Matches businesses with qualified applicants to fill open positions. Employers may post job openings online. Other services for employers include help with workplace consultations, recruitment and layoffs and information on business, industry and economic trends.

Will assess current skills, interests, and aptitudes as they relate to employment choices through career software, group workshops, and online resources.  Will help customers to make an informed decision and conduct a career analysis through workshops and online researches.

DSB provides skills, training, and support to people of all ages to help them achieve educational, employment, or independent living goals. If you have a vision impairment that makes employment hard for you, you may be eligible for services to help you prepare for, obtain, maintain or advance in a job. Our training often covers: Skills for adapting to vision loss Orientation and mobility Assistive technology Job-seeking skills Talking about your disability in the workplace Employer expectations Communication and problem-solving

Peninsula Services is a non-profit United Way funded agency that works to train and find employment for persons with disabilities.  Most participants are referred to our services by other organizations such as DVR, DDD or DSHS and most recently DSB, and there are no fees charged to the individual. Offers an array of comprehensive rehabilitative and supportive programs that are based on the belief that persons with disabilities grow and develop as do all persons; that persons with disabilities can work and want to work; and they should be provided with support that accentuates the individual's talents, choice, respect and dignity in pursuing life options. Training opportunities include All Shred document destruction with mobile shredding truck that can pick up throughout the county, Grounds Maintenance at sites throughout Naval Base Kitsap, and the agency-run Servmart Supply Stores in Bremerton and Oak Harbor, and training at other community sites as well.
