The goal of Mason DEM is to strengthen the County’s ability to readily, effectively, and efficiently mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from all types of natural and man-made emergencies/disasters, including but not limited to earthquakes, windstorms, floods, wildland fires, acts of terrorism, and man-made/technological hazards. Clallam County Emergency Management assists with providing FEMA recovery funds for storm damage. Also provides educational materials and preparedness classes for all known disasters and provide many layers of emergency alert information, including "Clallam County Alert System" that citizens can opt-in to receive emergency alerts. A regional public safety service agency that provides 911 and 311 public safety dispatching and law enforcement services, emergency management, and safety radio system operation and maintenance. Offers sign-ups for public alerts, abandoned vehicle reporting, and requests for public records.

Coordinators present educational programs regarding individual 72-hour preparedness plans (including composition of car-packs and house-packs).  Also assist in company planning for facility disaster preparedness, i.e. evacuation plans, safety precautions for on-site toxic chemicals or other hazardous materials, situations, etc.  Free brochures given upon request when available.
